Beautiful lake with camping facilities that should be explored and enjoyed. It's right next to Murphysboro, Illinois ... a cool little town with a lot to offer.

Lake Murphysboro is nicely off the beaten path and nestled in beautiful rolling forest. A great place to just set and enjoy your surroundings. Great place for group/family gatherings.

stopped in there on the spur of the moment to camp. wasnt our original destination, but thought we would check it out, small campground but nice and quiet and well taken care of,, the host told us we had the best site there, # 23, and she was right, the lake was all around us. large site too, so my advise is try and get #23, you cant go wrong

Nice place to camp, but if there are too many RVs, the circuits will blow. They had to move us around after we were already set up.

For displays love to walk around the lake it's an awesome workout definitely can't wait to go back... Beware there is lots of hills and is a very good workout

Campsites were well groomed and roads within the park are paved and maintained. We camped in the Shady Rest section. The outhouses were easy to get to but really really needed to be fogged for bugs. The drive to the (cold)showers and flushing toilets was a good distance. Definitely not within walking distance. There is no swimming but the kids really enjoyed fishing. They have an archery area for those that want to use it. There is also a playground near the showers. We saw 2 deer near the road, 3 snakes in the water, two young snappers and the raccoons took anything that was left out to eat.

Lake Murphysboro has some wonderful picnic areas and places for family recreation. We really enjoy it!
