They were not much flowers as it's not the season but the owner is really passionate about his forest and we learned everything about the trees and the forests. We got to see the smallest orchids too!

This 'Jardin' once a grazing pasture for cattle has been lovingly reforested and transformed into a small amazonian paradise. The owner and brains behind this small forest is incredibly knowledgeable about every single plant, insect and animal living on his property. He takes great pride in his work and clearly enjoys sharing his knowledge and love of his forest. This secondary forest is home to mammals such as Capuchin monkeys, a very large quantity of insects and arachnids and of course amazonian flora. The main attraction of this secondary forest are the orchids that have been planted along the well-maintained trail. You will see bright and vibrantly colored orchids with hues of purple and pink, fragrant delicate orchids that look like Tiffany's hand-blown glass and miniscule orchids that can only be enjoyed using a magnifying glass. Along the way your guide, often times the owner himself, will point out various plants, insects and animals and will give you a explanation. Guides speak Spanish. This tour will utilize all your senses. Orchids that smell like vanilla and chocolate, an herb that tastes like chimichurri, leaves that taste like cinnamon, plants that feel like animal fur, birds chirping and insects whirring and of course every single thing your feast your eyes upon will define your personal experience. To arrive take a local bus for $0.25 going to "Los Angeles" and ask the driver to stop at "Jardin de las Orquideas". You will be dropped off at the entrance. You can also take a taxi, prices may vary but it will cost around $5. Expect to spend a majority of the day here (3-5 hours).

The owner is a visionary who transformed 6 hectares of pasture land back to an evolving rainforest site over the course of 30 years. Took a 2 hour tour with the owner's daughter. Very interesting to see nature at work. Highly recommend it!

Amazing what 17 years of plant growth and hard work can accomplish. From a cattle pasture in 1995 to a rapidly developing rainforest site now.
