We only did one dive here, but all in my group found it dull and boring, we were unlucky and did not see any sharks, so all we saw was a very bland and monotoned reef, with not much to see.Glad we only did one dive!

Elphinstone definitely lives up to the hype, it's probably the healthiest, most beautiful reef I've seen. No big animals while I was there, but pristine coral, clear water, and countless reef fish. If you have the chance, do it!

This is rated among the ten best diving sites in the world.It was a fantastic dive with Longimanus sharks.I believe it would be best going on cruise and sleep on the boat to dive very early morning or at sunset.

Crystal clear water & an abundance of marine life. The highlight was seeing an oceanic white tip shark on our dive.

My son went on this dive with Emperor Divers he had an amazing experiance. He swam with two sharks one over three meters the other around three meters.

You only go here to hope to see some big fish like pelagic sharks. There is nothing else here to see. And nature is not a zoo, so you might not see any big fish on your trip. We got two Oceanic White Tip Sharks, which was all we hoped for so we where happy. It is a calculated gamble to put your time and money into Elphinestone. Could be the greatest experience in your life - but could just as well be a rather boring dive.

I have recently dived in the Elphinstone Reef and also agree with many people that its more for experienced divers, and believe it a good idea that the diving centers require a min of 30 -50 dives to go there... the current can be really strong, though I was lucky the day I went and it wasnt so bad. I honestly think that apart from seeing the sharks - which depending on the season you might see none - the dive site isnt so special. The plateaus go very deep, so one might need to watch out with the depth. I was very lucky to have seen an Oceanic White Tip shark when I went there... Im sure if I hadn't seen it the dive wouldn't have been so special. On my travel blog Packing my Suitcase, there are more about diving in Elphinstone. Apart from the sharks big Barracudas and Napoleon fishes can be spotted there. I also heard that at around 60m deep there is a beautiful cave there... though not for me! :D

The sea was rough and the boat trip hard. The diving itself was excellent. We did not sea sharks but the wall dives were brilliant. Not much current. Relax diving but the surface was rough.

Only recommended for experienced divers. We had a number of dives (with a live-aboard) here and it was so heavy, because of the strong current, that we had little possibilities to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There were a few Hammerheads (though these were quite deep) and a close view to several large Groupers.

very nice reef. Unfortunately we didn't see sharks. We dived there four dives in two days. One time sea was quite stormy when we came back to Port Ghalib. (We were in daily boats)

Did two dives on Elphinstone - and must say it is a beautiful reef.My hope was to spot hammerheads while diving there - but no luck.Several other divers saw hammerheads up close - so I guess it just wasn't my turn. I guess I simply have to go back! :-)We did see dolphins on the way out to the reef - and the reef itself was a very nice dive.

Great dive site assuming the weather is nice and not too much current. Hammerhead sharks, white tip reef sharks and great drift dive.

Pretty wall dives with heeps of coral and swimming friends. Often sharks show up to shake your fin! Liveaboard would be the best way to visit, as you avoid the busy times of day.
