It's an excellent tour. Seeing the bog in the park is an eye-opening experience. A village named Kamus in the park is also worth visiting. A local old man has turned his collections into a museum which houses many ancient ship or Vikings related objects. In fact, his house itself is a museum. It's super cool!

There are lots of hiking trails for many different kinds of nature lovers: the kasmu Boulder traik, which is fantastic and seems a glimpse into magical gnome territory; the Oandu old-growth forest trail, absolutely gorgeous, varied, Green, full of deliciously edible blueberrys and fantastically explained leafy and animal life along it in boards -in English. An absolute must.

Kasmu and Altja are really nice villages. Especially Altja for hiking, bathing and sunbathing in the area. Visu is not as nice. Beware that there is a restaurant but no shop at all in Kasmyu and Altja. Even in high season, it is quiet.

Yesterday we took the Lahemaa National Park tour with Tallinn Traveller Tours and had a great day. The guide made everything interesting, with lots of stories about life in Estonia. The salmon at the lunch stop was absolutely deliscious and the visit to the disused soviet submarine base was rather different. The walk through the peat bog was also very different from a normal walk through the forest.

The walk through this area was like stepping back thousands of years . Loved the colours of the trees , ferns and water. Walk up the viewing tower. Quite high and the view from the tower is impressive and all in all a lovely experience . I didn't get bitten but it may be a problem

I live on the territory of Lahemaa National Park - breathtaking forests, almost untouched nature, fantastic bogs.

Someone we met on a free tour in Riga recommended that we take the Lahemaa one-day tour through Scanbalt Experience. It was significantly cheaper than the other tours we saw advertised around town (19 euros) and seemed to cover similar ground. We stopped at a waterfall, a monument with a nice view, burial mounds, and a good restaurant serving traditional foods and beer for lunch. The highlights were a beautiful lake and a hike through some gorgeous marshland to a wooden tower you could climb for some nice views.I've been to many national parks in my lifetime, and this one was different enough to be a worthwhile day trip from Tallinn. It's probably not necessary to spend more than a day, if you have limited time in Estonia.

Hired a car and visited Lahemaa National Park independantly. Followed the Viru bog walk and took some lovely photos. Went on to Captains Village and walked around the headlands. The views are great, but the flies and midges especially in the wooded areas were a problem and we got throughly bitten. Not sure how often this is the case, but recommend taking repellent at least in June. In the afternoon visited Sagadi Manor.

This is an awesome place! We have been in many manor houses, but this was very wonderful and special place with lovely yard and all the complex. We liked also very much the lady Maie who explained us the history of Sagadi and of course the legend about the young black haired lady! If you are in the north of Estonia we would like to suggest to go and spend at least one day in this complex! Take your time off and enjoy the nature and old times!
