This museum is amazing, gives you so much history in a setting that is fantastic. We ventured into the site after lunch and spent 2 hours in complete wonder.. They truly made this a interactive space that brings you back .. makes you aware of the history and leaves you wanting to come back..Cheers.. truly first class!Tom and Stella

An interesting museum with local finds, well displayed and with good signage. The museum is not large, two large floors and then a small top floor. Worth a visit, but doesn't take too long. Like other travelers, I liked the jewelry, which is well-displayed and demonstrates how little things have changed. My favorite part in archaeological museums is always the Roman glass, which is iridescent and almost glows. How on earth does glass survive 2000 years?

We visited this museum in Chios town and expected a one hour visit. we spent the whole morning there. A cultural treasure trove of Chios history dating back to prehistorical times. Don't miss the "letter from Alexander the Great". Most exhibits have English as well as Greek text so it is very easy to follow. My only complaint is that the museum has no chairs or benches for visitors.

The building is cross-section of those in '60s and in its three floors there are very important exhibits from Neolithic to Roman age.I loved the jewelery - seemed like modern - on the second floor, the small statuettes, the coins and other objects of every-day use.Very-very interesting is the skull of a man (found in the city of Chios, in a grave of the 2nd century BC) which has been operated because of a haematoma and lived after the surgery.I enjoyed our visit very much and I surely recommend it!

I did not know that Chios has had at least 8000 years of continuous history. This museum is loaded with beautiful artifacts. I would allocate at least 2 hours for an adequate tour.

Not really into archaeology but this place was so interesting. Most of the best stuff you weren't allowed to photograph but seeing such ancient relics in person was amazing.

This is a lovely spacious, air-conditioned modern museum. I have visited often and there have rarely been more than a small handful of visitors. It is a beautifully displayed collection covering the ancient finds of the island. As you might expect there are displays of pottery, sculpture and jewellery etc. I am not particularly knowledgeable about which of the finds are especially rare, but my particular favourite exhibits are the mosaics in the entrance hall, an engraving of a ship in the sculpture hall, a reconstructed tomb in the rear courtyard, a vast array of amphora and the monumental lion paws in a small room of architectural fragments.
